Teeth play an important role in our lives, in aesthetics and the feed, chewing, cutting food, mixing it with saliva, but also in speech. Unfortunately, maintaining healthy teeth requires attention, which means they need to be looked after daily. Everything we eat affects the health of our dental enamel; acidic foods predispose our teeth to caries, because they attack the enamel (citrus, sour preparations); there are also foods that cause variation in the oral pH to basic values and predispose the dentition to the appearance of dental plaque, weird smell of mouth and many others.

Yet there are some people with a perfectly healthy dentition in all aspects but the teeth color. Various foods, like coca-cola, coffee and smoking can darken the color of our teeth, making them look unhealthy and unaesthetic. In a society based on appearances, having ugly teeth is not an advantage at all and this is why many people with such problems resort to teeth whitening treatments. Either it’s a laser teeth whitening at the dentist’s, or it’s home teeth whitening, most of us will give anything but a better teeth aspect.
Since the introduction of home bleaching procedures, over 15 million North Americans have used this technique for whitening their teeth. Every year, this figure adds another 2-3 million people who require these dental services. This demand is growing steadily from year to year, due to, among others, need to "re-bleaching" between two and five years from initial bleaching. Even though the teeth whitening costs at the dentist’s are high due to both the cost of the teeth whitening products the dentist uses and also the cost of the service itself, many people prefer to do this procedure under medical supervision, as it’s considered safer and the most efficient.
Whatever kind of treatment you choose for your teeth, it’s important to make the choice now. If we think that we can throw away a white t-shirt when it turn yellow, we need to remember that when it comes to our dentition, we can’t do the same thing; our teeth need to serve us a lifetime.
